It is the best of the patrol craft class ships and was meant to help larger classes of ships like the interdictor cruisers. The D-5 Mantis is a rare patrol craft that was used in the cold war. Other known characters who have owned this type of ship are Jedi Knight Aryn Leneer and Zeerid Korr. This ship made a cameo in the book The Old Republic: Deceived. As one of the largest and most powerful spaceships, it became a favorite of the Republic's special forces division. The BT-7 Thunderclap is an assault ship from the Republic's military. Finally, if they are a trooper they will receive the BT-7 Thunderclap.
If they are a smuggler they'll receive the XS Freighter. If they are a Sith warrior or inquisitor they will receive the Fury. If the player is a Jedi consultant or knight class they will receive the Defender. If they are an imperial agent they will get the X-70B Phantom. If the player is a bounty hunter they will receive the D-5 Mantis. This ship is entirely based on the class of the player, so they will not get to pick between them.
